p.s.
I'm not moving anywhere just yet.
However, there are lots of planning and preparation.
I wish I am living a much simpler life which allows moving a lot easier.
Now, I have to hunt for dog lovers...

Caption - The Thinker

Welcome to Monday Photo Captions!

Enjoy the captions contributed by fellow bloggers and leave yours for the last two photos.
Selected ones will be posted next Monday with links to your blogs.

Kay L Davies : I had a banana. I know I had a banana, but where did I put it?

Kerrie :  If I pull this rope at the right time, those elephants will trip...

Anna : The Thinker by Monsieur Jungle (Rodin's Sculpture)

Daine : Elephant 1 : There is something on your back, Honey.
Elephant 2 : I see something on your back too. Shall I get rid of it for you dear?

Anna : Learning the Ropes.

I want to thank everyone who contributed to the captions and comments too.
Below are 2 new images.
These are wasps which stung me because I accidentally pruned away their nest.
I considered fixing the nest back but it was impossible.
Sorry wasps.
If you are interested to know, the wasps' stings hurt quite badly but the pain only lasted for about 5 minutes.
It's a small price to pay considering that their next generation may be lost due to my carelessness.

Sent in your captions for these last 2 images.
Selected ones would be posted next Monday with links to your blogs.
Have a jolly week!
By the way, you may want to look beneath the leaves before pruning.

Invasion of the Hornets

Did you arrive here to check out a scary post?

This is a Lesser Banded Hornet which has multiplied in quantity over time.

They are about 25mm in length.
This particular one is forming a ball.

I used to see them hovering among plants but now they are everywhere.

Someone must have told them I like critter shots...

...and they passed the message to one another.

It took me quite a while to have 3 of them in focus while a few were hovering around me because I was in their way.
They are on a very serious mission to collect wood to complete their nest.
So, please do not try this at home.

Like bees, they love the nectar.
Their diet consists of other insects and perhaps they are here to get rid of papaya fruit flies so that I get a chance to consume my papayas again.

On hot days, they quench their thirst at my lotus flower pot.
No wonder the water has been depleting quickly.
(Ok. I have heard of evaporation.)

There are many types of hornets.
The Lesser Banded Hornet or Vespa affinis has 2 orange bands covering the first and second segment of its abdomen while the rest of the abdomen is black.
It is true that they have grown in numbers, hence the title as such.
But it is not meant to be a scary post.

I am entering this last photo in Gardening Gone Wild's 'Picture This Photo Contest' with the theme Late Summer Garden.

Beauties with some Beasts

Just for the fun of it, there is a need for some imagination to see the flowers that I am flaunting today.

As I was deciding whether to focus on the yellow fungus or  pink periwinkle, Pichu went in between to make the decision for me.

Does this wasp look any less evil surrounded with soft colours of the flowers?

What do you see? Beauty or Sting?

The wasp doesn't look very friendly but it is definitely very hardworking, scraping wood endlessly to build a nest even under the hot sun.

This sweet looking Bougainvillea is from a nearby park.

If you have not seen the Photo Caption for the week,  come by to Caption - Fall Colors to leave your caption.  Selected captions will be posted next Monday with a link to your respective blogs.

Pinching Basil Flowers

Pinching basil flowers off regularly would keep the basil plant lush and leafy.

As I approached my Thai basil flowers, a fly appeared to be drinking nectar.
It seemed really engrossed with the flower.

Yet, on a closer look, the fly seemed to be floating.
Of course that would be defying the law of gravity.

It made sense that the fly was actually in the arms of a white flower spider or a crab spider.
It wasn't the fly that was enjoying a meal after all.
Instead, it was the spider that was enjoying its meal.
Things aren't always what they appear to be.

Shifting my attention on another stalk of basil flower, I found a yellow wasp drinking nectar.
A brown spider was waiting beneath the wasp and several ants were busy on the petals above it.

"You couldn't be seriously thinking of disposing these heavenly flowers, could you?!!!" asked the wasp.

Pinching basil flowers off could keep your basil plant lush and leafy.
You could either use a pair of scissors or even your thumb and index finger.
The last thing you need is a camera.

Caption - Dog Tired

I am posting a photo based on some of the captions you came up with last week.
If you have been following the weekly Caption Game, you would notice that this photo below did not appear last Monday but it goes so well with some of your suggested captions.

Anna : Dog tired!!!

Genie : What is this about climbing a mountain...all I want to do is to plop right here and chill.

Cheryl : Oh crap! I just heard the clicking sound again! Why can't One just leave me alone?

GardenWalkGardenTalk : I didn't even finish with the appetizer and here comes the main course.

Bananaz : Wasp-up? Didn't you receive my text message? Our Queen wanna have turkey this Thanksgiving!

Hootin' Anni : Table for two?

Hootin' Anni : Her-r-r-e, Mousey, Mousey...

Milka : I hope no one sees me, now that I see no one.
(Personal note to Milka : The above is improvised from your comment.)

Solitude Rising : I don't remember burying the doggone bone that deep.

Bananaz : Clifford held his breath for 19 minutes and 51 seconds, breaking the world record in "breath-holding in a hole". Do NOT try this at home! It is extremely dangerous and should only be undertaken by a skilled trained, professional DOG.

One : "Hey!!! Did someone just switched off the lights?", asked Clifford as he put his head deeper into the hole.

Notice cold sweat trickling down the grasshopper's neck?

Even if you are not game for captions, I hope Clifford's silly expression bring a smile to your face.

You are all invited to share your creative captions for the last 2 photos.
Comments are of course welcomed too.

Have fun!
Smile now for a great week ahead!

Note : In case I'm taken too seriously, let me just clarify here.
The water droplets on the grasshopper are actually raindrops.
I have not seen this grasshopper fly nor hop before because it is still at the nymph stage.

Caption - Stripes is In

Many a times, we may be looking at the same photo but yet we seem to see and understand it differently.
I find it very amusing that some of you think the brown lizard is peeping at some hot girl.

Kitchen Flavours : Did you see her? Ok, it's my turn now.

Bananaz : Stop playing 'Guess Who'! My lunch gonna hop away soon.

Anna : Thanks pal. I needed to get a-head.

Solitude Rising : Hehehe...go ahead look up there while I will have a feast down here...
(Personal note to SR - You must be hungry. Previously you were waiting for the larva to drop in your mouth.)

I really love these jail captions! LOL!

Kitchen Flavours : I can't wait for graduation day!

Luna Miranda : Stripes is in!

Hootin' Anni's : Grafitti! It's illegal here?!!!

Two new photos below.
The first one consists of a wasp, a worm and a black ant.

Actually I can hear what Clifford is saying with his head in a hole but I'll wait for your creative captions and comments.
Have a fun week ahead!

Anger and tension zap away our energy.
On the hand, laughter recharges us.
Would you rather choose to laugh today?

Stampmouse : Your laughter turns my world upside down.

Jan n Jer : My house is a wreck.

Squirrel Queen : Honey, did you hear the wind howling last night?

Andrea : My father was here.

Lifeshighway : Hey, Ralph stopped by today.

Donna - Green Apple : Boy, did I have a lot to drink last night.

Autumn Belle : After I finish drinking this potion, I'll never grow old.

Jan n Jer : Life in a bubble.

Diana : Practicing Yoga balance.

Sheila : Just can't get the hang of this exercise ball.

Duke 118 : Honey, we've got to get to the hospital now. My water bag just broke.

Above are 3 new photos for your caption imagination.
While I attempt to post photos of nature that hopefully bring some smiles to your face, I trust you would also attempt to keep the blog clean and hopefully the mind too.
Before you put the blame on me for your wild thoughts, let me share my caption for the last photo.
"You ain't  heavy, you are my brother."

Hear from you soon.

For those who contributed to the captions, thank you for making us laugh.
