Nature Capture

Since a fly is not the most desirable looking critter,
My mission is to discover ways to make it look better.

Firstly, selecting a background with flowers,
Definitely add splashes of interesting colours.

The lighting and angles got to be just right,
Note that the posterior is an adorable sight.

A fly is really quite colourful,
Observe and you'd see red, black, green and blue.

This fly which is looking for a date,
Finally got its first handsome portrait.
Feel free to distribute and circulate,
As it impatiently awaits with increasing heart rate.

Pinching Basil Flowers

Pinching basil flowers off regularly would keep the basil plant lush and leafy.

As I approached my Thai basil flowers, a fly appeared to be drinking nectar.
It seemed really engrossed with the flower.

Yet, on a closer look, the fly seemed to be floating.
Of course that would be defying the law of gravity.

It made sense that the fly was actually in the arms of a white flower spider or a crab spider.
It wasn't the fly that was enjoying a meal after all.
Instead, it was the spider that was enjoying its meal.
Things aren't always what they appear to be.

Shifting my attention on another stalk of basil flower, I found a yellow wasp drinking nectar.
A brown spider was waiting beneath the wasp and several ants were busy on the petals above it.

"You couldn't be seriously thinking of disposing these heavenly flowers, could you?!!!" asked the wasp.

Pinching basil flowers off could keep your basil plant lush and leafy.
You could either use a pair of scissors or even your thumb and index finger.
The last thing you need is a camera.

Black Ants

What do you do when you see black ants in the garden?

It could be a sign that there are mealy bugs nearby.
Take a look.

Do you see a tiny spider on the left side of the Red  Button Ginger?
It may take care of the ants when it eventually grows up.

Alternatively, we could wait for the praying mantis to finish up with the fly and proceed with the ants.

So, what do you do when you see black ants on the plants?

For me, I take out my camera.

Who Like Weeds?

I've just been to GardenWalkGardenTalk and discovered that she likes weeds.
You would like them too if you have weeds like hers.
More and more people are loving weeds, admiring what other creatures of nature have been attracted to all these while.

This is a weed loving butterfly.

Insects love to hang around wild flowers.
Some are there to drink nectar.
Some are lurking around to capture those that are out for a drink.
Others might just be romancing.

Goldee loves weeds. I often find her eating them.
Some people says that dog eat grass or weeds when they don't feel well.
Goldee definitely doesn't look ill to me.
She probably likes the fiber and nutrition that comes with weeds.

Who else love weeds?
