Lighting: A Closer Look

In case you haven't heard of this, Gardening Gone Wild is having a photo contest.
The topic is ‘Lighting: A Closer Look’

These are wild berries found in a forest.
This time around, I remember to spray myself with mosquito repellent before going into the forest.
Previously, my berry photos became just a smear of red as I could not keep my hands still with the mosquitoes buzzing all over me.

These tiny False Heather flowers are from my garden.
I captured the same flowers but in a Mason Jar for a previous Gardening Gone Wild Photo Contest.
The photo failed to get me into the finals.
Is this any good now?

This spider is building a web on my lotus leaf.
It's shadow seems to tell me not to choose this photo; "X"

Skipper Butterfly

Citrus Butterfly
I have yet to decide which photo would be my entry.

How about leaf beetles?
Would this one be disqualified?
I would welcome some feedback as to which photo I should select for the photo contest.

By the way, my good friend, Rosie, gave me a mission to capture the 'strangest thing you ever saw'.
Rosie, would the photo of the beetles qualify?

I believe my last caption post with the 'upside down house' would be strange enough but I didn't want to link up with an old post because you might miss this interesting meme.
Join Rosie in her quest for strange photos.

While you are here, I would appreciate if you could vote for Onenezz with the voting buttons below.

A big thank you to everyone whom have voted daily or occasionally to move the rankings to :
Malaysian Top LOL : 6
Malaysian Blogger of the Year : 15

Thank you for your support.

Thank you for all your precious comments.
I have made the decision based on your feedback.
The butterfly would be the entry.
The beetles are just for laughs.

  2. Hi,all the photos are amazing, but the beetles is the best shot. You captured them at the right time, not for them though :)

  3. Agree with Rosie, the beetle picture is not an easy capture! You must be lucky to be there at the right time!

  4. I choose the beetle couple too. If they are celebrities, and the shot is from the paparazzi, it will go viral soon :)

  8. I think the boy beetle is giving you the evil eye! Great capture and a sure leading contender. Interest of subject matter is your ace in the hole. A photo have to be engaging and this one fits the bill.

  9. OOO...I love all the shots but I think the beetle shot stands out. Not easy catching them in that compromising position. Pornography on Onenezz!! ha! ha! I suggest u submit the Amorous Beetles for your contest....cheerio! Audrey

  10. I think you should go with the beetle shot. It will definately stand out in a crowd and people will take notice. That and it's fun.

  11. OK - my very honest and open opinion. The citrus butterfly shot is excellent - great composition and perfectly in focus. The shots above it are great shots but none of them have perfect focus as this one does. However, for originality your last shot would win my vote - is there any way to sharpen this image a touch? It is a great photo.

As I was sitting waiting for some butterflies to land the other day I spotted two ladybirds doing the exact same thing, but tried to capture them with my macro filters and every shot was a disaster. I could have kicked myself.

  13. I'm with Jane, the crispest shot is the citrus butterfly, but the beetles are the fav. You sure don't see that everyday!

  17. Well, I have to ditto Jane: the citrus butterfly is a winner for all the right reasons but if the judge has any sense of humor the beetles win....and they should go viral...send that out for great acclaim!!

  18. I think the pictures of the spider and the beetles belong to the same category --- X-Rated (LOL)

Honestly I'd go for the beetles. Who else could capture a picture of beetles in such a compromising position but you?

  39. I would have chosen the Citrus Butterfly - everything about is perfect. I've not checked the gallery yet to see what you chose as your submission. I've some shots of red beetles being amourous too from last year - these ones have the nick name - 'bonking hogweed beetles' as they are so famous for this. LOL

  40. I vote for the beetles as well. Not only is it a great picture (sharp focus on the beetles, water on the leaf) but that has to be the funniest picture of a beetle I ever saw!
