What do you do when you see black ants in the garden?
It could be a sign that there are mealy bugs nearby.
Take a look.
Do you see a tiny spider on the left side of the Red Button Ginger?
It may take care of the ants when it eventually grows up.
Alternatively, we could wait for the praying mantis to finish up with the fly and proceed with the ants.
So, what do you do when you see black ants on the plants?
Very cool! You got really close to a hard subject to pin down!
ReplyDeleteMy camera is the only thing that would get me close to bugs! Great photos!
I think aphids, my arch enemy. Nice macros BTW. The praying mantis especially.
ReplyDeleteYour macro makes my eyes could see the spider which is smaller than an ant!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have seen the spider if you had not pointed it out. Good eyes!
ReplyDeletei like the macro feature of your camera, as there's a lot of critters in our area which i am sure you will appreciate. It's just that my camera cannot get nice shots of them without tripod. My distance to the subject must be 0.9m, and that is not easy for me.
ReplyDeleteTerrific macro.
ReplyDeleteWhat would I do?
I 'd boil a kettle..
Really fabulous macros! I'd be right there along side of you with the camera. Can't get enough of nature in action!
ReplyDeleteI would never have noticed the spider until you pointed it out to us.
ReplyDeleteMy Link for today:
Hot pink...BEAUTY and the BEAST
fabulous! wonderful help for the garden. happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteI let the ants be...they might be the busy pollinators going up and down my long bean plant, the eggplant and my tomatoes!
ReplyDeleteI get worried because they are hosting those uninvited pests. Then I start to hunt for some lady birds or praying mantis to reduce the number of this pest.Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post. I get ants all over my peony buds and never thought to photograph them at all but I might consider doing so now!
ReplyDeleteAnts... Keep out from my home!
ReplyDeleteNice photos. :)
All the ants around us appear to live under the lock block paving of our drive. Love your macro shots, I am going to give it a try, not sure if my camera is good enough.
ReplyDeleteI would leave the black ants alone as long as they don't bite me. Its the red ants that I squeeze whenever I see one near me, their bite hurts.
ReplyDeleteLove that you captured the praying mantis with the fly! Fantastic One!
ReplyDeleteI only mind ants if they're of the fire ant kind. Great shots! Thanks for pointing out that minuscule spider!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and that red is rich.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. Thanks for showing us all these different creatures. We have lots of ants around here, just not that particular type. I also think aphids when I see ants - disgusting!
ReplyDeleteWonderful macro-photography. I am not sure that I worry about black ants. I am more likely to worry about deer.
ReplyDeleteI have ants all over my jambu air fruit. Help!!!
ReplyDeleteI read your comment about my not having a new mission to carry out without Katarina's meme. Yes, I'll sorely miss that. How about you giving me a mission? I'll be in Bandung on Thursday...what's my mission, ma'am?
Rosie
Great photos, as always. I love the praying mantis shots.
ReplyDeleteGreat macros. Most of my ants are in the lawn :(
ReplyDeleteMe too.
ReplyDeleteI hope my camera is always by my side.
Love your macros, especially the spider and ant shot. Unbelievable how small that spider is!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, I do not think I have come across Macro Monday before.
