A few days ago, I found a grasshopper nibbling my canna lily leaves.
What comes to your mind when you see this grasshopper destroying the leaves?
To be honest, what came to my mind was 'green against green'.
If the grasshopper were to move towards those striking blooming flowers, then it may look more attractive.
(Did someone say Nuts!?)
Anyway, the point here is to be careful what you wish for because wishes are almost always granted.
As expected, today, the grasshopper peeped at me from behind the Canna Yellow King Humbert!
This time, the grasshopper definitely stood out among the canna lilies.
It thanked me for such delicious flowers.
It was however a little upset that I took shots from all angles including his backside.
It started to get annoyed when I continued clicking!
Can you see its facial expression change from being upset to being annoyed?
(Did someone say Nuts again?)
I am thankful that the grasshopper did not notice my spinach.
Advise for the Day
Be grateful for what the grasshopper did not eat.
If you enjoy this post, do hop over to my other blog at Tropical Nature Photos.
That blog is feeling a little lonely.
Be rest assured that if you Click on 'Follow', the little critters would not follow you to your garden.
They are quite happy here.

ReplyDeleteThis is so funny! I love how you got so close and him staring right at you. He does look annoyed!
ReplyDeleteThose are some fantastic photos! I'd never be able to get shots like that. Course then I would have gotten rid of the bugger.

I am the one annoyed when I see a grasshopper! Because that means it's too dry and hot!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics One. I think even you would get annoyed if somebody keeps taking your picture when you're eating especially when you're really hungry...LOL
ReplyDeleteOooh great grasshopper shots! They look like aliens. And this one does look a little annoyed, LOL.
ReplyDeleteFunny. What camera do you use to get those eyes so close up?? My first thought on finding a grasshopper eating my flowers would be REVENGE. You are a much nicer person :).
ReplyDeleteHe must have been very hungry to sit there and allow you to get such great photos! I like the yellow against the green...very nice!
ReplyDeleteI talk to bugs, trees, and even rocks. .. ...
ReplyDeletethat must have qualified me as a nut!
Have a good day.
I also have lots of shots with grasshoppers, but they seem to be very common so am not so interested posting them. But in your case they look so lovely. I think it is just a baby! Why did you think it will not go to your other plants, now that you think of it a little later they will be there, as if you directed them there, lol. My nephew, Allen, planted a corn grain in one of the pots with ornamental, then it germinated, grown tall and Allen was so happy with his single plant. The pollen just sprouted and while he was so happy to be getting a cob of corn, the grasshopper ate all the leaves in a single day. It didn't leave anything to make its food for the grains. He still allowed it to mature leafless, and what he got was a single pollinated grain! But he was happy with it, as a result of his long waiting.
ReplyDeleteI used to play with grasshoppers when I was boy.
ReplyDeleteBut now, I just can't stand them chomping away in my garden.
Usually I get those green yellow 7 inch giants that flies. These do look creepy as I wonder how to get rid of them.
wow, you always stun me with your amazing shots. i love that second photo and how he's holding on to the bloom just peeking over.
ReplyDeleteQuite good pictures. Our garden will soon suffer from an abundance of hungry grasshoppers. While your photos are quite good, I don't have much affection for them.
ReplyDeleteThis is so fuuny!hahaha...
ReplyDeleteThe grasshopper will be so thankful to you!
Nice hilarious account of the grasshopper. And good photographs too.
ReplyDeleteOh it really looked so annoyed, but thankful still.

I like the fourth photo! It turned its head to look right at you! Good shot. Popping over to your other site now. Company's coming, any tea? :)
ReplyDeleteI would have been to worried he would leap my way to get all those shots..lol
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend.

love these!!! The 4th one is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteAfter this grasshopper is finished with chomping on your greens, perhaps it'll be delicious lunch/dinner for another creature.
ReplyDeleteQuite fascinating! I can't believe he sat still so long; they are very skittish here. I'm thankful right now for what the bunnies haven't eaten!
ReplyDeleteThose eyes just looking into the lens are amazing :)
ReplyDeleteThat second shot is priceless! They are all very good, but that second one looks like he peeped around to say, "Would you mind?" Fantastic set!
ReplyDeleteOne - your photos get better and better.
ReplyDeleteI love that second picture :) It's like peek a booing with the grass hopper.
ReplyDeleteReally cute pics! Adorable vignette!

Our home backs to an open-natural space greenbelt. I usually see one or two grasshoppers a year. This year, they are just horrible! I typically do not spray anything in my yard-except for weed killer. The mosquitos are also horrible this year. I can hardly go outside. As an arborist, I am in the business of preserving trees so I kill things in order to do so. But the grasshoppers, well, they have got to go. I have even let the garder snakes thrive so they will eat them, but there are just too many of them.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are just beautiful and the contrast is fantastic.
