This is one of the dragonflies that frequent my garden.
Why?
There must be a lot of food here.
Damselflies don't come here though they don't live very far away.
They hang around the watershed which is about 150m from here.
Damselflies are similar to dragonflies but smaller, slimmer and weaker.
Their eyes which are separated reminds me of the praying mantis and also Sid of Ice Age.

Unlike the dragon flies, they fold their wings up over their back.
There were many damselflies but I only managed to capture a blue and a black one after getting my shoes all muddy and wet.
Comparatively, dragonflies are a lot more cooperative during photo shooting.
They stay on dry ground and keep still.
Except for the first photo, the rest were found at the Watershed after the Heron flew off.

ReplyDeleteNo worries about the award. It's entirely up to everyone whether to accept it, no hard and fast rule about accepting it. Just to let you know that you have a lovely blog and thank you for being such a nice bloggie pal! ^..^
I love finding dragonflies in my garden and there are many because of the pond...lovely!
ReplyDeleteThese are incredible shots One. I love dragonflies for their very unique form plus they are great little garden pest hunters. You macros are just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love damselfly more, its so pretty and delicate like a damsel. Used to look for them when I was a kid for my water colouring hobby back then, while keeping them in a jam bottle.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Dragon flies to hold still to be photographed. Interestingly, we have the same species here. cheers. ann
ReplyDeleteHow great you are to be muddy and wet for the pictures of damselfly.
ReplyDeleteI was once slipped and my shoes were holding water during hiking at Cerok Tokun. Not a pleasant experience.
You make me wonder which part of KL (are you from KL?) are you staying. So close to nature and always have interesting animals/insects to show. Or i guess you must be a very sporty person, and love hiking ;)
ReplyDeleteOh got dragonfly and damselfly meh?Hehehe...sorry for my ignorance. What is damselfly in bahasa Malaysia?
ReplyDeleteYour dragonfly photos are amazing. they really reveal the intricate design of these beautiful creatures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots for those who are willing to get their boots muddy. Way to go! So blessed are those who could take a moment to appreciate the beauty of nature. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots and I never knew the difference between a dragonfly and a damselfly.
ReplyDeleteWhat incredible photos! I wondered what the difference was between the dragonflies and damselflies. Thanks for clearing that up. They are very amusing to watch in the garden and I love that they eat mosquitoes.
ReplyDeleteHi One, i can't seem to cope commenting on the blogs, i missed lots of them, am also late in visiting this post. But i really love your camera for getting beautiful close-ups. My lens cannot cope with that yet. My other Sony which gets nicer close ups was misplaced and am still looking for it. I wonder if my rechargeable batteries, not been used for sometime, will still be able to use.
ReplyDeleteI love dragonflies visiting my garden, they tend to hunt all the pest that cause harm to the plants.
