d'flies

This is one of the dragonflies that frequent my garden.
Why?
There must be a lot of food here.

Damselflies don't come here though they don't live very far away.
They hang around the watershed which is about 150m from here.

Damselflies are similar to dragonflies but smaller, slimmer and weaker.
Their eyes which are separated reminds me of the praying mantis and also Sid of Ice Age.

Unlike the dragon flies, they fold their wings up over their back.

There were many damselflies but I only managed to capture a blue and a black one after getting my shoes all muddy and wet.

Comparatively, dragonflies are a lot more cooperative during photo shooting.
They stay on dry ground and keep still.

Except for the first photo, the rest were found at the Watershed after the Heron flew off.

  6. I love damselfly more, its so pretty and delicate like a damsel. Used to look for them when I was a kid for my water colouring hobby back then, while keeping them in a jam bottle.

  8. How great you are to be muddy and wet for the pictures of damselfly.

I was once slipped and my shoes were holding water during hiking at Cerok Tokun. Not a pleasant experience.

  14. What incredible photos! I wondered what the difference was between the dragonflies and damselflies. Thanks for clearing that up. They are very amusing to watch in the garden and I love that they eat mosquitoes.

  15. Hi One, i can't seem to cope commenting on the blogs, i missed lots of them, am also late in visiting this post. But i really love your camera for getting beautiful close-ups. My lens cannot cope with that yet. My other Sony which gets nicer close ups was misplaced and am still looking for it. I wonder if my rechargeable batteries, not been used for sometime, will still be able to use.
