Shades of Orange

Here are some of the items with shades of orange in the garden.

Top view of Moon Cactus.
With barely any care for the last 6 months, this yellow-orange moon cactus still look gorgeous, doesn't it?

Marigold
They are grown in between cabbage plants.
I don't know exactly what the marigold did, but I certainly managed to harvest all my cabbages this time and in good shape too.

Geiger Flower Tree
A row of these trees are grown by the developer in front of my house.
They look good from this direction.
Lots of fallen dried leaves and fruits on the opposite direction.

Canna
These are thriving despite daily rain last month and rainless days this month.

Titty Fruit (Solanum mammosum)
These are not edible but I think they look cute.

Fungi
See the peace symbol?
We use our fingers, the bug uses its antennae.

Orange beetle.
What could it be up to?

Skipper - not a true butterfly nor a moth.
More of this in another post.

Fish
It's purpose is to ensure no mosquito larvae in my lotus pot.
Sometimes I scoop up some of the water and fish waste to add to the compost pile.

My favourite orange items would have to be these 3 dragonflies.
I have yet to see them catch their prey.
So far, I've only seen a spider eating a caterpillar and a praying mantis eating a fly.

  1. Well, you really out did yourself. This post is wonderful. I am not sure which is my favorite, the canna or the dragonflies. The fungi with the little bug (I saw right away) was pretty too. I think the dragonflies win. They are like right out of National Geographic.

  9. Now, we lost out of serendipity except the last one where we commented next to each other in one of the sites, forgot if its Autumn Belle's or whose! I always say this, one thing i dont forget, your photos are improving everyday, to my envy. Even if the subject is ordinary your photos make them exceptional. Imagine, even Donna of GWGT, who is a good photographer appreciate this!!! That mushroom i see also here during the rainy season, and those dragonflies but i can't take their photos as clear as this. And i haven't made a collage like that one! haha. One of these days, i will.

  36. One, Orange is one of my favorite colors in the garden so I loved your post but the orange insects were the best. Carolyn

  37. I think that you would enjoy researching companion planting: partnering plants that benefit each other, such as planting marigolds in between cabbages to keep nasty insects off of them. We always plant dozens of marigolds in the garden. If you didn't have the little green worms drilled into your cabbages or the little white cabbage butterflies floating above your cabbages, it might be due the marigolds.

Love the oranges. I like your color theme; amazing what you find when you seek. Here, only daffodils are putting on a show. The fruit trees are about to burst forth in bloom. South of us the flowering trees are beginning their show. So If I were to look for color in the yard it would still be basic brown.

  53. Nice set of shots!

Thanks for visiting my Camera Critters post. I'm glad you enjoyed the Dove butt shot because it was clearest. The others weren't as clear because as I explanined I was shooting through a window. Since I wasn't posting on my photoblog I don't mind that the crispness isn't there - only the story. :)
